I don't belong to any belief system. I love people from all over the world and I never compare them. They are all unique. My vision of a real humanity is of pure individuals relating to each other. They will be loving to each other, but not being possessive of each other. They will be sharing with each other all their joys and all their blessings, but never even in their dreams thinking of dominating, thinking of enslaving the other person. My vision of a real humanity is of a world consisting not of nations, not of races, but only of individuals. I was born Rajneesh Chandra Mohan in Kuchwada, Madhya Pradesh, India on December 11,1931. I was raised as a Jain, although, I was never very cooperative about it. I was also raised in a very large family, yet lucky enough to have been able to spend my youngest and most formative years living with my maternal grandparents until the age of seven. My grandmother Nani spoiled me rotten, hence, I developed the habit of being a very lazy individual. As a child and young man, my favorite pastimes were playing pranks on others, debating with, or even insulting, authority figures(my favorite targets were those with some type of religious affiliation), swimming, reading, telling the complete and total truth, and lying. I graduated from the University of Saugar when I was 21 years of age. I then became a professor of philosophy at the University of Jabalpur for the next nine years. In 1969 a group of my friends established a foundation to support my work and this made it possible for me to quit my job as a professor and indulge a bit more in my laziness. We moved into an apartment in Mumbai where I developed a life long hobby of gabbing to those who came to listen. My hobby of talking endlessly is commonly referred to as 'giving discourses'. In 1970, against my better judgement, I initiated my first sannyasin. Honestly, I only started taking sannyasins because no one would leave me alone about it! I have had health problems all my life and this has been an enormous challange for me. Eventually, I had to move from Mumbai to Pune in order to be in a less humid environment and to support a healthier lifestyle for myself. In 1990 I managed to fake an elaborate drama in which I was able to convince the entire world I had left my body. It was so widely accepted as truth that it was even broadcast on the American television show, Saturday Night Live. I cannot take all the credit though, my closest sannyasins put on quite a show, crying and laughing, and dancing, and crying some more. I loved watching their magnificent preformances! I only recently learned how to use a computer and the internet. One day while I was "surfing the web" I came across myspace. I realized what a wonderful tool this can be for me, to once again, come out of silence, and do what I do best!!
