About Me

At an early age, David was already singing but didn't know that it would become his passion. He sang in church and at family gatherings but At 13 years of age, David KNEW that he wanted to sing. After hearing the work of a classically trained opera singer he decided that he wanted to be different and study Opera for himself. He audition for Michael Terrell at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and even having never done an audition before, he was admitted to the school. David became skilled at sight reading and music theory under the tutelage of Michael Morton and some of the best friends a guy in High School could have,(Garry Williams, Sedrick Jenkins, Chevondolyn Williams(Hamilton), Sherena(Cookie)Green, Jilletta Gill, Ramona Jones(Estelle) and Tamara Murphy) David found his strengths and weaknesses and began to realize his true potential as a serious classical musician.David was a member of the Booker T. Washington choir that was one of only 2 high schools to be invited to perform a concert in Carnegie Hall in New York City. David also sang the solo on "Betelehemu" during the Carnegie Hall performance. Upon graduating from Talladega College with a degree in Music Education, David began singing with the Birmingham Concert Chorale and since then has sung with the Charlotte Contemporary Ensemble, The Charlotte Symphony Chorus and is currently singing with the Houston Ebony Opera Chorus and Opera in the Heights. David is studying voice with Bass/Baritone Dorceal Duckens of Houston and plans auditions and competitions in the near future.
