"If It Wasn't For Da Bronx this rap shit probably would never be going on, so tell em' where you from..." These are the words that up and coming mc B. Liles stands by with his gunz up! Hailing from the North East section of Hip Hop's birthplace, Liles was surrounded by the urban phenomenon that took over the streets of New York, and which ultimately took over the world! And now it's time for B. Liles to take that same world by storm!
Growing up listening to microphone legends like KRS-ONE, Rakim, and Kool G Rap, Liles became insipred to start writing rhymes of his own. Describing himself as an artist with versatility, Liles uses storytelling, life situations, and rhyming skills to get his much needed point across.
During a short stint in North Carolina, Liles and three other New York mc.s formed the group Startin' Line, who threw parties and performed across the area. In 1997 the group was handpicked to open up for a Homecoming concert which featured artists like Jay Z, Luke, and Lil Kim. As a result of being an opening act the group was then asked to record radio promos for K97.5 which ran for two years. The group was also featured on numerous mix tapes which created a strong following in the Raleigh Durham vicinity.
In 99', due to creative differences Startin' Line disbanded and Liles returned to NY to pursue his solo rap career. Liles began recording and soon took the stage again to open shows for the likes of Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, & The Lost Boyz. The following year Liles and some other aspiring artist from his Bronx neighborhood formed the crew Route One. For the next two years Route One recorded two albums, appeared in magazine ads, and was featured on NYC's 91.9 underground radio.
Today B.Liles is signed to Onyx Management who plan to take Liles to the next level. He's been featured on the "Costra Nostra" project which created a strong street buzz. In a game where a fresh new voice is needed, Liles is more than ready to take on that task. So after spending years mastering his craft Liles feels it's time that the world be rewarded with his style, views, and passion for the game he grew to love up in Da Bronx.
