25 Cats Named Sam

About Me

Formed way back, in the mists of time, 25 Cats Named Sam was an embryonic idea forming in the mists of Bobs mind. Though he had been in many bands before, he knew that this one could be "the one..." Day one in freshers week at Heriot Watt Uni proved to be a fortuitous one, as Bob found himself to be living just down the corridor from a short bouncy punk fan named Aythan Lewes, who just happened to own a bass. He decided to only way to prove this future troopers mettle was to lure him into his room with punk music, and test him thoroughly on his knowledge of Dual Rectifiers and such things. Luckily for Aythan, this did not come to pass, as it was the first day of Uni, so everyone proceeded to get very drunk and forget their own names, never mind knowledge of the inner working of a Marshall JCM 900.
In the weeks to come, Bob spent the money he received in his libel case against The Sun newspaper (they were 8 years old and male, not 5 and female, as the paper alleged) to buy a brand spanking new PA system. As Aythans bass amp was being fixed at the time, both he and bob jammed together through the PA. As songs such as White Noise, Igor Igor and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome were showed to Aythan, rejected, and then played anyway, the search was on for another guitarist and a drummer. Various friends, enemies and ex Wacky Races participants were tried out along the way, until a shy, retiring, perpetually crying Emo kid named Scott was found in a corner. After being given a hankie, he tried out, and was found to be an awesome guitarist. Thus the 25 CNS trademark duelling-spaz-guitars sound was born. This trio started playing together, and quickly found a startling dynamic between them. Bob, the driving force, decided that, although talented, none of the three could keep time. Instead of shelling out for an expensive metronome, an ad was placed in German Drum Monkey Digest for a drummer. Bizarrely, none was found that lived up to Bobs high expectations, so an ad was put up around the Heriot Watt campus.
Hundreds applied, but following strenuous assault courses, interviews, a background check and a grade nine modern dance exam, the lucky nine went into the Big Brother house. The winner, a hunky bearded monkey-chap from Germany called Matthias was finally unveiled to an expectant public as 25 CNSs new drummer.
And thus the Four were in place, ready to take over the world. Gigs were played, damsels rescued, battles fought and won. But after it all, they thanked Abba for the music.
THE END! or is it? well... no.
