Nurtured by his small town, southern upbringing, and influenced by some of the most prolific musical artists from the last century, Ashe Watson is one of the most promising and talented up and coming musicians in the music industry today.
He attributes his distinctive songwriting ability to spending time with his uncle, Brandon Barnes, a Grammy nominated song writer, who is credited for some of Brian McKnights biggest hits, such as Anytime, One Last Cry, and Never Felt This Way. In March of 2002, Ashe flew to Los Angeles to work with Brian McKnight himself. McKnight and Barnes remain two of Ashes main influences. In 2005, Ashe's talent for songwriting landed him a major deal with Rondor/Universal music publishing. He has also been in the studio working with the Underdogs, who has had a major influence on his songwriting. Other bands and artists that serve as inspiration to Ashe include 112, Boyz 2 Men, Gino Vannelli, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Tower of Power, Take6, Fred Hammond, and Commissioned. The timeless and classic work of James Taylor motivated Ashe to practice and become a self-taught guitarist.
Ashes musical talents were evident in his early childhood, playing trumpet in his churchs orchestra and learning harmonies from singing in the choir. Additionally, Ashes grandfather, a voice coach and high school band choir teacher for thirty-five years also played an integral part in molding Ashe into the phenomenally talented artist that he is today. Now, at age twenty-two, it is no wonder that Ashes abilities prospered interacting with a family that placed such a high premium on music.
Almost ten years ago, Ashe made the decision to capitalize on his talents and dedicate his life to his one and only passion: music. Not only is Ashe an amazing vocalist, he is a multifaceted musician in every sense of the word. In addition to composing his own meaningful, yet upbeat lyrics, he is an accomplished pianist, guitarist, and percussionist. Because of his beautifully warm vocal abilities, dominated by R&B and accentuated with ever so slight hints of his rich southern accent, Ashe is destined to become one of the biggest names in the music industry.
