About Me
We must stop the genocide that's occurring in Darfur. ALthough the escalating situation in Lebanon is extremely serious, there is little the rest of the world can do to stop a lunatic terrorist cell. WE must help who we can, NOW. In 2003, the rebel groups the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLA) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), accusing the government of oppressing non-Arabs in favor of Arabs, attacked military installations. Since then, in fear of losing power, the Sudanese government has granted power to militia groups known as the Janjaweed to clear out civilians in areas considered disloyal to the government. THe government-supported Janjaweed have gone on to loot and raze villages, kill mass numbers of men, women, and children, and systematically rape women. On September 18, 2004, the UN Security Council passed Resolution 1564, which called for a Commission of Inquiry on Darfur to assess the Sudanese conflict. On January 31, 2005, the UN released a 176-Page report saying that while there were mass murders and rapes, they could not label it as genocide. 400,000 have died, its time to make a change. To educate yourself about the situation in Darfur, or to make donations, visit these web sites....www.SaveDarfur.org
