OFF THE RAILS
Off the rails were formed in 1993 at Bonnington Resource Centre. Original members Rohan & Jonathon formed the band to enable people with disabilities to front a band. The songs were all covers and the band worked like a backing band. The band had a major change in 1995 when Miles Carnell stepped in to replace the departed Jonathon. This change moved the band towards a rockier/bluesier style with a funk swagger.
1997 saw the introduction of blues guitarist and vocalist, Akin Fatunmbi and in 2004 new bassist, John Boyce entered the madness. The 2006 line up of the band was completed by David Kerr, the 3rd Dave to fill the drum stool.
The current line-up welcomes back Miles Carnell to the fold, this time on guitar and new drummer Jeanne Laidlaw. The line-up is completed by John on bass and Rohan on guitar/ vocals. Akin is still maintaining strong links with band an we hope that he will guest with us when he can. The introduction of Sarah and Mairi on vocals give the band a new dimension as well as considerably lowering the average age of the band.
Off The Rails have become heavier over the years but the repetoire has become wider covering songs from Deep Purple to the Proclaimers. There are a small number of original songs now creeping into the two hour set, which fit seamlessly with the cover versions.
