Singer/Songwriter, Steven Rodriguez known for his rich, contagious melodies and insightful lyrics, was born and raised in a small suburb of Long Island. During Steven’s adolescent years, his many influences included, Jim Croce, Bread and Cat Stevens to name a few. “I guess I was always a closet singer/songwriter fanatic, which further evolved when my folks bought me Lionel Richie’s ‘Can’t slow down’.â€Though those innocent days are gone, Steven has tried to hang on to them in his writing. Songs from his self-titled album reflect a few of these stories. Some of these songs are based on Steven’s own personal experience, but most from people who have deeply touched his life. From the political referenced sarcastic love song “Mr. Right now†to the whiskey drowned lament of love and loss in “Fly on my ownâ€. Steven has continued to tap into his past even more for the newest songs to be released on the next album titled “The Simple Thingsâ€. “I’ve become amazed by how I can grow as a songwriter by regressing further into days gone by.â€All of these songs and many newly written ones can and have been heard at many New York area venues including; The Stephen Talk House, Amagansett, N.Y., Wicked Willy’s, Manhattan, N.Y., The Post Office Café, Babylon, N.Y. and Kenny’s Castaways, Manhattan, N.Y.
