A bit About Me
My journey began in 1985, when I was born. I am half white and half black and my family was into their music and always listened to reggae. My Mother was born in Leicester My Father was born in Northampton (UK) Soon after My arrival, When I was about 4 years old I started to first sing along to to the songs my parents would play, That is when both my parents and family saw that I had a natural Talent for music. At the age of 9 I began participating in various local talent shows.In 1998 I received my first pair of decks with mixer and speakers, I would spend every spare moment practicing on them and teaching myself how to re-mix reggae’s golden oldies with up to date hip hop, R&B , Soul etc..
In 1999 I then taut myself how to rap and I would read the dictionary for hours improving my vocabs, I would read the newspaper and underline the words I didn’t understand then go look them up for me to understand the meaning to the words so that I could use them in my lyrics. I have always love to work with music and I’ve always said I will go through all types of music styles to see which I like best as I would like to work with other’s in the future. My main passion is to sing. I sing every were I go, even if I’m in the street I’m always feeling a beat in my head and will just burst out with a verse I just made up in my head at the time.
In 2001 I entered my self into a mc competition at a bar called “Mint Bar†it was hosted by “Diamond FM†there was a lot of talent in there on the night. There were groups and I was the only solo artist we had to battle each other 8 mile style. From 12 groups I was the youngest being only 15!! And I managed to come in at 2nd place!!
After that I was getting comfortable with my style of music and really started to take it further by practicing even more. The days were long as I was under going my final exam’s at school so the pressure was on. The Afro-Caribbean Centre was hosting there own Music talent contest, with applicants which consisted of Singers, Instrument Players, Rappers etc. I was amazed at how much talent is really out there its cool to see how many people who are great at what they do, I think it’s wonderful that we still live for are dreams! I entered the competition as a rapper. I was free styling (Making my lyric’s up as I went a long) I came in at 2nd Place... So now I was really aiming for the number 1 spot.
In 2002 In October I then went on to the T’V Show “Trishaâ€. The show’s title was Young Stars. There was 3 acts’ me being 1, and we had to sing in front of a panel. The panel consists of Jo Wiley of Radio 1, Jimmy From 911 and I can’t remember the other guy’s name but did claim he discovered Charlotte Church “The Voice of an Angleâ€. We all had to sing and the winner would get a whole day in a real studio! After the other two acts sang it was my turn, I remember being so nervous has I’ve never performed on T’V to millions before in my life but I sang the song “Rendezvous†By a great artist Craig David. O.K we are the only three in this completion to have the chance to spend a day in a recording studio. So what I didn’t understand was how come a person in the audience wins!!! Every one was gob smacked including the Panel Judges. After the show had finished all of the panel had said to me that I should have won no-doubt and that I should keep doing my thing as I have a talent And not to let what just happened bring me down and that they were just as upset as the rest of the other act’s..
In 2005 I had lots of college work and had managed to write my own song’s the first being “Dark Dayz†But I was also in a relationship and decided not to be so committed to my music as I wanted to spend my time with my Girlfriend at the time yes I was still singing and writing lyric’s but not as much.
From 2006 to Present Day I have been working extremely hard on my first mix tape. I have a total of 15 tracks all written and performed by myself. I have also purchased my very own recording studio and I now sleep, eat and do my music on a daily. I have been doing gigs around Leicester and I’m currently in the process of release my mix tape to the people of Leicester and surrounding area’s. In the future I would like to do more free gig’s to raise money for charities and also inspire the younger generation in to living for there dreams.
