THE RUBDOWN

BBQ is the best form of relaxation.

About Me

When we think of Barbecue many different visions fill our head bringing with them the smells and tastes of food prepared over a nice hot grill. Barbecue varies from person to person and usually we find no two are the same. Over the years through trial and error I have perfected or least I think I have perfected California’s best BBQ rub the Reeves Rubdown. Hours of weighing, measuring, rubbing, smoking, and eating along with suggestions from Family and Friends has made the Reeves Rubdown what it is today.

I can not lie I have been influenced by the Barbecue cultures found in the south ranging from Texas to the Carolina’s. I can still recall my first experience at Buddy’s and Corky’s in Knoxville when I was sent by my employer years ago. While I was there I enjoyed as much Barbecue that I could and even contemplated taking some on the flight back to California. Needless to say I enjoyed the Q and was hooked.

California? Barbecue? Most think of the Spanish/Mexican influence on Barbecue when thinking of Cali-Q, the smoky mesquite, chili influenced seasonings and citrus after taste of a cool lime come to mind to most natives as well as visitors. Like all regional Barbecue in near the other coast we do take pride in our regional Barbecue and don’t be shocked when you find out it can hold it’s own against it’s southern brethren.

Why Reeves Rubdown? Simple, your spice rub and meat are your canvas and when using things like smoke, sauce, corn bread, slaw, and all other fixings you are able to paint a Barbecue master piece that your great grand children will be talking about for generations..

Now Barbecue means something here with the Reeves family that is no different from any other Barbecue family and that is Taste. We believe in a blend of Sugar and Spices that can compliment any ones passion for Barbecue.

It all starts with the best cut of meat you can afford (and we all know that the brisket is the cheapest, toughest, underappreciated meat but it can taste of heaven when smoked properly) and a good rub to set the foundation for a satisfying Barbecue. Once you have that smoke churning and the meat in the Q its all about the patience and perseverance not to rush perfection.

With the Reeves Rubdown we truly believe your barbecue will be exquisite, with the right amount of smoke, heat, and basting if need be the Reeves Rubdown will heighten your Q experience and have family and friends asking for more. So rub your next Barbecue down with the Reeves Rubdown and sit back and enjoy the smoke.
