Donta' Young was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Some of his most influential musicians from GR are Pastor Kenny Hoskins, Tommy Cutts, Tommy Debarge, Robert Pace, Debra Perry, Lucius Hoskins, Danny Richardson, Dennis Witherspoon, Ken (Squirt) Hoskins, Ernie Figures, Jimmy Abney, James Cutts, Terence Jones, Joe Ayoub, John Parker, Shannon Lucky, Pierre G., and James Jones.
He grew up playing under or with most of these great musicians and singers. Donta's greatest passion is to minister the Word on a broad scope, through music and through preaching the Word. "I believe that God will use me, not only in my city, but all over the world." Right now he's working on an album that will take him to another dimension in his life. The album titled "My Life", involves people such as Carmelita Young, Lucius Hoskins, Robert Pace, Shannon Lucky, and Debra Perry. His style of singing, accompanied by his signature style of music, makes him a man destined for greatness. The Bible says,"Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men." He strongly believes that and will allow God to take him there. He has four children, in which three of them have already been recording. He even does children's songs.
