I'm all about integrity with this music. I'm still working on my craft but I'd like to work with artists of like-mind; grown folks that act like they are grown up, people who are real with themselves and everyone around them, people that are responsible and do what they have to do when it needs to be done and people who are true inspirations.
The other key that I'm looking for are artists that mind their tongue. In today's music scene, that's a quality that most don't care for because a lot of people cuss for absolutely no reason at all. It's the everyday verbatim... but it's sad, it's destructive, and because society is bad enough as it is, a little less of it might do us better.
So, my main requirement should anyone EVER want to use any of my beats is that they keep it clean and proper. That doesn't mean that you have to preach, do Dr. Seuss and Baby Einstein tunes or keep your mouth shut. If you're REALLY an artist, the requirement shouldn't be a big issue. I speak all of this from experience. Years ago, I cussed like a sailor when I rhymed but if you heard me in regular conversation, you would've never known. After hooking up with my cousin GreyMatter who exhibited some of the best lyrical skills I had ever come in contact with WITHOUT using any profanity at all (and this was while freestyling), I knew that I had reached a crossroads with my perception of how hip hop was and how it should be. I decided my contribution to hip hop from then on would be to make it better, not worse cuz that's only where it's headed right now.
Big ups to artists/producers out there being real with themselves and who they are and being responsible with the gifts that they have. God didn't give you those gifts for nothing. You are blessed to be a blessing. Keep it true...
