About Me

Dobro Pat got her start playing music in Memphis and the Columbia MO area as a duo act with Jesse James, a singer/songwriter from Moniteau County, MO. She bought her first dobro in Memphis and joined the Memphis Area Bluegrass Association. She was a member of the Memphis bluegrass band the Wolf River Travelers for several years. She enjoys playing multiple genres of music, and has been seen backing up musicians in several open jams throughout Memphis and the Columbia MO areas. She returned too Missouri in August of 2007 after living in Memphis for several years. She has recently formed her own band "Token Dude" featuring her and Jim Hellman. They play with multiple singer/songwriters/musicians in the Columbia MO area. She is also playing with the Bluegrass Pickin Time Band, an all female bluegrass band formed by Bessie Reeder from the Dixon Bluegrass festival. Dobro Pat can by found on Sunday afternoons playing her dobro or lap steel in the area blues jam, either on the banks of the Missouri River at Katfish Katy's in Huntsdale or in downtown Columbia at the Broadway Billiards Hall. She is from the Ozarks of Missouri, where she grew up riding horses and enjoying clear mountain streams. She received her 2008 Scheerhorn guitar in October 2008, and was known as the "lady with the pretty guitar" at the 2008 ResoSummit!

My Interests

Music:

Influences: All the great Memphis area dobro players including Gary Pierce and Mike Busby. Joe Oser and Bob Salley from Memphis also deserve kudos for taking the time to teach her music theory, as well as teach her beautiful songs and different styles. She's been fortunate to attend workshops held by Rob Ickes, Jerry Douglas, and Orville Johnson, all of whom have greatly influenced her playing. She has also attended the 2007 and 2008 ResoSummits in Nashville, and found inspiration from her fellow classmates, as well as the great instructors.
