KAZ (vocals, harp, guitar) was born in a Japanese village where he cut school to play music in local clubs until he was old enough to pack up his axe and see the world. He got hisself educated in London, inebriated in Dublin, lost in the streets of Paris and finally ended up in that home of all the world's itinerants, New York City. As founding member and creative mastermind behind Kagero, Kaz pulls his influences from every and anywhere, bringing genres and killer hooks together in novel ways. He also likes Guiness. A lot.
ROB BASS (electric bass, vocals) has been performing with Kaz and Kagero many years, since the fabled days of Al Mars. Aside from a long standing professional interest in the culture of New Jersey, Robbie is an accomplished musician -- he's played all around the New York area with various groups of many different styles -- but whatever he does, he bangs his head. Rob is made of heavy metal, and he keeps the rock.
J.W. (fiddle, saw) learned to play violin at age 6 by the Suzuki Method with about 9.5 billion other young asians. He played in local youth orchestras until college, where he pursued, shall we say, other interests. After moving to NYC in the year 2000, and trying to make rent by playing on the subway, J.W. finally threw away his chin rest and joined up with the local garage folk movement and has been trying to unlearn ever since.
