i am convinced that art can be a valuable tool for communication. i also believe that the arts have been an effective skin to manifest narrative. Music, theatre, the big screen, poetry, and the visual arts are all used to tell story. So i think sculpture can be used as an effective means to tell story also. i hope that a unique visual experience will communicate ideas in an interesting way. i desire to hold the viewers attention with the art, so they will be inclined to engage their minds into the narrative. i also hope that some visual symbols from the series might hold a place in their mind and be remembered later.At some point in my learning experience i became excited by the idea of assembling several materials, mostly natural materials, into a single piece of art. Out of this mental image comes the style of a lot of my work. i was fortunate to be supported on a trip to West Africa this past summer (2008) for seven weeks. While i was there, seeing humongous clouds and rock formations reminded me again of my interest in natural things. i think a lot of people share this interest, and so i have tried to take tips from Him on visual beauty and incorporate these ideas into my work.
