If you find similar interests in the music I listen to you should really check out the new Pinback, Chevelle and Editors CDs some of the best stuff out this year from bands I like... getting lots of play time in my iPod.
I enjoy music! I like alternative, rock, electronic, low-fi, ambient, chill out, indie, industrial, techno... pretty much most music... but not everything. I have taste.
Right now I'm into Pinback, Kings of Convenience, Faithless, Bjork, Our Lady Peace, Lamb, Placebo, Matthew Good, Muse, Mew and Radiohead to name a few.

Crouching Tiger, House of Flying Daggers, Eternal Sunshine, Fight Club, American Beauty, American History X, Lord of the Rings, Super Troopers, Matrix, Donnie Darko, Kill Bill, 300, Beerfest, Borat... I'm going to have to look at my movies to come up with more.
i no longer have cable... it is way nicer to watch the entire season on DVD without commercials whenever you want. but this is what I used to watch when I did:
Scrubs, South Park, Futurama, Aqua Teen, Family Guy (not as much since that SP episode), Entourage, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Sarah Silverman, Myth Busters... almost anything on Comedy Central or Discovery. TLC, History, CNBC for stocks and market, ESPN for the action sports (i.e. X Games, snowboarding, bmx, hockey, lacrosse) I try to keep my TV watching to a minimum. It rots your brain you know! Frick! Frick! Frick!
Man I really should be reading more... I have so many recommendations and not enough time to read them all. Tao Te Ching quite often, various dog breed books, Fortress of Solitude, It Was On Fire When I Lay Down On It. Never got to Battle Royale yet, sorry James... Movie was good though.
