"My family and my life motivate me." Born October 20th 1974 she has resided in Houston Texas all her life. She often reflects on her poetry style as Cultural. "I say I am a Cultural poet because as a people we are the Revolution, we are Love and we are Faith." She embarked on her writing journey at the age of 10. "I speak on our past because I was close to my great-grandparents/gran-parents. I did not live through most of what our people went through but I had GREAT Elders who were mindful in not letting us forget."
Her pen name is Jahs Creation. Simply stated it means One Created by God. "I grew up around Afrikan tradionalist and Rastafarians since I was 15. So, I knew Jah and Olodumare right after I knew Allah and Jesus. I am humbled to say I am diverse in our people and traditions." This may be why many see Jahs as a speaker for many of our peoples hopes and issues. "I point out the issues to start a dialogue on solutions. I don't have all the answers but I hope to help create the healing process."
Jahs has released her book entitled, Love and Revolution. The premise of this book will be to tie the two main focal points of the Black people in America. It is a collection of Jahs poems and free verse. "Everything I write is from personal experience. Every love piece and so-called Militant piece is from my heart. To share that part of me with the world.. I hope makes a positive impact on someone's life."
"Truly this legacy is for my children."
