SVEN VATH @ FUTURE SYDNEY 2008
Dingostyle @ Family Main Room - Aug 07
Arguably one of the fastest rising local acts, Dingostyle are one of Queensland's hottest tech-house and techno duos of late. Both Silva and Steve have been part of the Queensland scene in their own right for the last 6 years, but have only joined forces in the last year to form the tech-oriented collaboration, "Dingostyle".
Silva and Steve were heavily into dance music in their late teens and met DJing at a local show. Steve's focus was on deep, underground progressive house and trance. Being brought up in the UK, Steve had access to the best record shops in London and made use of them! A few highlights of his days overseas were seeing his heroes Sasha and Digweed on NYE (Digweed dropped For An Angel at midnight) and playing two gigs in San Antonio, Ibiza.
Silva's attention, in the meantime, was on the commercial club scene on the Sunshine Coast and listening to the likes of Judge Jules, Fergie and Carl Cox. Silva, having just returned in August from a clubbing tour of Ibiza and record-shopping extravaganza in Amsterdam, has spent the last two summers in Sweden and has really felt the musical effects of being in such a hip and eclectic city like Stockholm.
Dingostyle, the concept, was formulated at another New Year's Eve party in London. While watching Fergie and Tall Paul destroy the Brixton Academy they said, "we have got to join forces and go for it". When back in Australia, the pair got straight to work and started collaboration immediately, running a successful event with Public Domain called "Ibiza Uncovered" as their first order of business.
Having supported, in more recent times, the likes of Anthony Pappa, Ignitian Technitian, Vince Watson, John Askew, David Forbes, John OO Fleming, 4 Strings and headlining shows up and down the east coast in their own right, things have only been getting bigger and better for the duo. Listen out for a few of Dingostyle's latest re-edits getting a run in the clubs when they're playing.
Dingostyle is a fun and different approach to DJing, their theme at present is very party-influenced and verges on the tougher, more accessible side of the tech spectrum. Be sure to check them out!
