About Me

As a member of Do Or Die, Belo has sold over 2 million albums! The legendary rap group, Do or Die, launched Chicago's first national rap movement in the early 90's, and gave Twista a platform to showcase his tremendous talent on the anthemic Po Pimp single. Now, after releasing seven successful albums with partners in rhyme A.K. and N.A.R.D., Belo is ready to show the world the full range of his artistry with his stunning debut album, The Truth, which was released on The Legion Records."I picked "The Truth" for the name of my debut album because a lot of the stuff I wanted to express, I couldn't express when I was doing albums with Do Or Die," Belo explains. "I want to touch on some topics that are real truthful, that are really real. I have done a lot on the streets. A lot of people don't know that side of me because they hear me rapping laid-back and smooth, and they know that I was with Rap-A-Lot and did the pimp stuff. But they don't know the street side and the stuff that I've gone through in life, you dig?"Belo spits straight street on Outlaws. The funky, synthesized beat from longtime Do Or Die producer, The Legendary Traxster, gives Belo the perfect opportunity to flex a harder more aggressive flow, and rap about more gritty subject matter than people are used to hearing from him with Do Or Die.Belo developed his distinctive flows while growing up in the Windy City's rugged West Side. Both of his parents were singers, and his father instilled in Belo the smoothness that defined his future work with Do Or Die.When Do Or Die broke through with Po Pimp in 1996, Belo's smooth, laid-back style, helped catapult the song and the group to the top of the music charts. Thanks to Po Pimp, the groups first national album, "Picture This", went platinum and established the elegant yet edgy gangster sound most normally known as the Chicago sound. After "Picture This" Do Or Die's subsequent albums are 1998's gold-certified, "Headz Or Tailz", 2000's "Victory", 2002's "Back 2 The Game", 2003's "Pimpin Ain't Dead", 2005's "Do Or Die", and 2006's "Get That Paper". The success of these albums solidified the trio as one of the Midwest's most respected and prolific groups.Despite his tremendous success, Belo stays in the hood. He's working on a documentary on himself that will focus on the struggles he has endured, from gangbanging to getting shot. He's launching his own label, Po House Records, but for now his focus is on promoting "The Truth", and reaching his loyal fans."I want people who are going to get out here and support the movement that I'm on", he says. "All the cats that support Belo thats in the hood, that are on those blocks, thats my family. When I use that, I dont say that word in vain. They are the only ones that can get close to me. And thats The Truth."
