About Me

Myspace Layouts by MySugarSpace.comMelody Case, a Youngstown native, was born in May of 1978. Since the age of nine, she has been involved in music, studying classical flute and voice. Receiving many honors throughout her high school career, in 1996 she won the Dorian Award for best musician in the Youngstown City Schools. During her college years, Melody continued her studies at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. Although she earned her way into some of the top ensembles there, she felt herself drawn to songwriting and arranging, inspired by the music of Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel, and Queen. Now relying on piano and keyboard as her main instruments, Melody began private study to further her self-taught skills. Upon a friend's encouragement, Melody spent a short but enjoyable time as a keyboardist, backup vocalist, and jazz flutist for a Warren, OH based band called Saints and Sinners. Now back in the Youngstown music scene, she resumed her solo career with renewed enthusiasm when she met a local bandleader who introduced her to the realm of funk music. Since October 2006, Melody has been working with the popular funk/rock band Geo C and Tha Storm, adding keyboard, vocals, and jazz flute to their upbeat performances guaranteed to want to make you dance. The band is headed and founded by the extremely charismatic musician, songwriter, and businessman George Case; who is not only Melody's producer and mentor, but also her husband. The band also includes some of the finest talent from Youngstown, Ohio. She is also working with Mr. Case to release her first full-length album of all original music due out next year, which can be described as innovative alternative rock with thought provoking lyrics. While she dedicates herself to the band, she is also very eager to continue recording her new songs and has allowed for a preview of these new and/or improved songs right here on MySpace. Soon after the album release, she plans on working with Mr. Case to headline her own shows with her own backing musicians in the Youngstown area. Don't miss this collaboration coming soon to your town! **Photo credits: Album shots taken by Natalie M. of Studio N Photography. **All music within these pages are copyrighted with the US Copyright Office.
