About Me

I'm living in the tropical island of the Dominican Republic for the next two years. Now, you'd think "damn she lives in the Caribbean! Beaches every weekend!" But no, I'm more than 4 hours on a crowded bus to the beach. I spend a large amount of time playing dominoes and cards with my family, taking pictures of the cutest puppy and kitten in the world, and thinking about food. Not just any food, but good food. Hamburgers. Steak. Salads. Cheeseburgers. You try going 2 years on a strict rice and bean diet. It gets old. But you do learn that there really are more then 100 ways to cook rice and beans (try white rice with beans and topped with spagetti...).Check out my pictures at www.flickr.com/photos/pixiebingham/

Matt Crossett Whips in Las Mulas

On a tour to his Peace Corps site (Las Mulas de Las Matas de Farfan, Rep. Dom.) Matt Crossett shows a group of fellow volunteers his newly acquired skill of whipping. Notice how he completely changes his persona to lay a fat whip crack.I love the atmosphere of a good movie theatre. The popcorn, the seats, the sound. Just so long as it's a big screen with comfortable seats. It doesn't take much for me to like a movie. As long as there isn't any aliens. I don't like alien movies.

Television:

TV around here includes Dominican Variety Shows, and Mexican Telenovellas. Sometimes I get lucky and Shrek (dubbed in Spanish of course), will play on the weekends.

Books:

Want time to read? Join the Peace Corps! My all time favorites are The Alchemist and Lonesome Dove. Others I've been reading recently include The Kite Runner, The Good Earth, This Much I Know is True, Wicked, Deception Point, Good in Bed, The Starter Wife, Drown, Memoirs of A Geisha, The Life of Pi, Lucky, Harry Potter, and much, much more. I just like to read, and not going to lie, a good trashy novel, such as Danielle Steele is needed in your life now and again.
