How Far Do I Gotta Go

About Me

When you listen to or hear about BWP the most common questions you ask yourself are “Is he real?” “Is he just another young kid who got brainwashed by the videos”? “Does he have the ability to make album ish”?September 17, 1991, who knew that the kid who was just born is going to have the courage to become the talk of hip-hop. Born and raised in Bangladesh, this talented young kid's real name is Riyad Rahman. He was asked to speak on this topic and he stated “My close relatives call me Rimon, it was the name of a brilliant student back at that time. The reason for me mentioning it is that I come from a country where educational value is more important than being somebody important.” He was surrounded by his loving, caring family and that sounds lovely but they forgot to teach him about the harsh reality where he is growing up. In his early age he wasn’t given the freedom to stand up for himself and learn about the cold world since the crime rate was astonishing and that made every kid’s parents think it would be crazy for their child to be out. He says, “Here in western world some parts of a city are referred to as ghetto, in that case I can say the whole country, Bangladesh is ghetto since gangs, drugs, violence, poverty, criminals, crooked politicians and law system are part of everyday life.So for a better future and environment where education can be taken without any worries, the family moved to Toronto, Canada in 2003. Before stepping into Toronto the family had the chance to taste the lifestyle of England. It was their first counter with the western society and lifestyle and they realized life will not be easier. “When I stepped on the Pearson Airport of Toronto, I felt like I’ve arrived at somewhere worse than a third world country because I saw huge crowd of people from all over the world, some were spitting on the ground, bargaining with the taxi drivers, sitting on the ground reading papers, security guards acting like police, pay to use the cart and suspicious people real close to your luggage” he says. Language skills and cultural differences and financial problem just frustrated the hell out of him. Only way he could prove he belongs there is to do something shocking. At his school he did a presentation about a Canadian city through performing a rap he prepared and his movement in front of the crowd seemed like he has been doing this for a long time. Actually rhyming was nothing to him since he has been writing since he was 7. Yup, a new beginning has started for him.As time passed by writing and improving his skills turned most important to him. He had his family support right but still his parents and the Bengali community couldn’t believe a kid who knew nothing much about anything else except getting A+ in school, his attitude is now being called straight business ish. His “Don’t give a fuck” attitude towards certain people such as the haters and some females who we can call bitches and real gentle like behavior with his ladies and gentleman, his unexpected plans and interesting (some call it weird) personality got him the name BWP which stands for Brownie With Personality and also B-dub, Indian Nas (for his realness and daily life lyrics in his music). He was then pressured to participate in a local talent show but he didn’t have any experience performing in front of about 800 people, rocking the crowd, spitting on the mic and going with the instrumental. Still he took it as a challenge and decided to test the strength of his balls. In two days him and another underground artist of Scars Ent. finished the song and practiced. At the show even though they weren’t real professional, they had the crowd standing up and doing the chorus. Since then “I Do My Thaaang” became a catchphrase. “I deeply feel sorry that I didn’t bother to connect with those people who showed me support, that was the worst move you can make in this business. I lost a lot of support after that performance just because I didn’t show my appreciation. I say to myself every single day that I luv y’all and I really mean it. I should’ve said that to them.” At this point he has accomplished a lot and now he is waiting to see what his future holds for him. Meanwhile he is working every single day getting better at his skill. He has been getting noticed and supports for his hustle from the hood. To achieve such success he had to prove himself by battling and spitting randomly and now he is one of the best of his age. So with new confidence and plans he is hustling harder than ever.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
