About Me

From Monty Python's "Life of Brian"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlBiLNN1NhQ

"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" - My favorites? "Life's a piece of shit, when you look at it" and "...it's all a show, keep 'em laughing as you go, just remember that the last laugh is on you."

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

My ancestors (so I can fill in lots of genealogical blanks), Roman Polanski (because he's a genius in every sense of the word and he's not arrogant about it. I love him dearly), Jack Nicholson (because he looks like alot of fun to hang around), Adrian Brody, Johnny Depp and Reese Witherspoon (because they all look like very interesting people in general), people who are educated yet who don't throw their accomplishments and laurels in other peoples' faces (as if they're the only ones who have them).

My Blog

Americans' problem with anyone not like them

I watched a segment on ABC's "Nightline" last night (Monday night, the 15th), coming across the program via channel surfing, and I saw just how positively ugly many Americans can be (and how cocky the...

A potpourri of thoughts

Well, I had lots of fun with myself yesterday.  All I did was pull out my vinyl (records) and enjoy the artwork and the music (duh!).  Lots of great memories, but only of a more carefree time in my li...

Happy Birthday, Sharon!

Can't believe it's been this long since I last posted on this blog, but 2009 turned out to be an incredibly insane year - especially the last third of it.  From September to the last day of December, ...

My childhood officially died today

Have you ever anticipated a moment in your life that will truly define the ending of one thing and the beginning of something else? That moment just happened to me not a few hours ago when my mother c...

Almost there. Just ... a ... little ... bit ... more.

It was encouraging, in a very sad way, to see that the Brazilian Air Force found some debris in the Atlantic last night on the route taken by Air France Flight 447.  It was also scarier than hell to r...

The letdown continues

Today marks two whole weeks that I've been back from gorgeous Constantinople/Istanbul (longer than I was there) and I'm still feeling the letdown of not being there.  I've been battling a sinus cold a...

FINALLY - Istanbul!

Constantinople/Istanbul rocks!  I believe I'm more in love w1th Istanbul than any place in particular (except Italy).  Despite the city's populat1on and the fact that it's very active, it's a very cle...

And with two days to go...

I sit here and read utter garbage about the poor, sniffling right-wingers who feel so left out of the process (never mind how they hijacked it for the past 8 years) that they have to have their little...

Counting down the days!

Wow!  What a semester this has turned out to be.  I have only two more classes left, a Study Day, and then my finals and that's it.  The only other thing is our last group meeting on Friday, May 1st t...

The Sons of Italy close to closing? SAY IT'S SO!

The March 16th, 2009 issue of the Sons of Italy Times newspaper is one that's worth saving.  To see that this organization is on the brink of closure gives me a warm, tingly feeling.  Yes, many of us ...
