About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4Hello to my friends all over the world, to Germany and the Marshall Islands and Bali... thank you for stopping by my myspace page. If you are part of the military please drop me a message or a comment, I would love to keep in touch with you while I'm home in the states. What a beautiful summer! I am sitting by my window, sipping my coffee and staring at a gorgeous blue sky. We've barely seen rain, and our fields are in need, but somehow I can't take my eyes off this picturesque view. It reminds me of September a few years ago, you know the devastating one-- and how stunning the sky was that day. Somehow, we manage through all our differences and all our troubles to keep putting one foot in front of another.
I'm working on new songs-- and learning how to play the instruments that support them. For a uni-musical person (singing only) this is a huge step forward. Bear with me my friends, please, as these skills slowly (oh so slowly, age and time are monsters) grow. While you are here, please browse through the links to my friends-- most of them are insanely talented musicians and really cool people that are working exceptionally hard to have their unique voices heard.
I invite everyone to check out The Hunger Project's website: www.thp.org. This is an organization that creates a sustainable end to chronic hunger in villages and countries worldwide.
AVAILABLE NOW: WWW.CDBABY.COM/CD/VANTAYLOR Go here to make your own investment into the sustainable end of hunger! Very important. More information on the site. link up NOW while you're sitting here browsing-- open it in a new tab! Thank you!

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: I have been blessed to reside under the guidance of Mr. Van Taylor these last few years. He has helped me build a circle of musicians with whom I have played and who play with me that would otherwise be unimaginable. Walter Kemp III, Tim Webb, Jerry Sampson, Jerry Livingston, Richii Valentino, Joyce Wilson-Nixon, Will Holton, Mike Crimes, Jeff Nixon, Nelson Thomas, Brian Freeman, Kenny Hawkins, Wade Hawkins-- whether I've simply shared a stage with them or hired them for work- these are the musicians whom support me and I, in turn, wholeheartedly support.
Influences: John Hasselback who started me on Cain't Help Lovin Dat Man which seems an auspicious indication of my romantic life. Mr. Amuso who gave me the basics in jazz. Mrs. Patricia Oreskovic and Mr. Robert Wells who vocally trained me to sing classical music, and who willingly agreed with another teacher who claimed I will never sing Carmen. There's time to prove you wrong yet!!

Mom and the Sweet Adelines who taught me all about harmony, my entire musical theater repertoire that I continue to return to for storytelling and emotionally charged lyrics, and Joey Cavaseno who showed me how to listen to music.

Currently I am listening to: Serena Ryder, Nikki Hicks, Lance Diamond, Etta James, Van Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Abbey Lincoln, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Bjork, Paul Simon, Tagag, Chopin, Julie Andrews, The Andrews Sisters, Prince, Jimmy Scott, Karen Carpenter, Natalie Cole, Portishead, Duke Ellington, Carmen Mcraey, Joyce Wilson-Nixon & Juanita Duncan.

Mostly, I've been influenced by every musician I've ever felt connection with. I also am inspired by singers I have been in competition with-- for jobs, for attention, for money, for fun... you all make me strive to be better.
Sounds Like: Listen to some of my songs and let me know! I'll post your responses here.

Some of our soldiers were lost last week, and the base we're at is taking it hard. I don't suppose it's ever easy. This is both a good time and a bad time to be touring-- the troops who are here and a...

Friday the 13th. First the crack, the rustle, and the thud of the branches. Silence, then, thick. Sound that whooshes, slipping quickly through the air, only to be absorbed, stopped, swallow...
