About Me

The name Radha came from a goddess from ancient Indian Folk lore. In this case however, it refers to a young talented singer-songwriter from Manila Philippines. Radha believes that singing and performing is what she was born to do, since then it has become her craft, constantly honing her abilities so that she may better express herself. Performances to her are like great opportunities to learn something new, and she accredits most of what she knows to experience as well as mentoring under the greats, in the form of the radio. Her influences include Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Billy Holiday, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Chaka Kahn, Prince, Al Green, to name a few and their music is constantly heard in most of her shows. With each song she performs of her favorite artists, her distinct vocal style is heard in every verse and chorus making it her very own.She started her singing career at a very young age, as she describes her earliest memory of standing in front of a crowd singing in her preparatory class at the age of five. From then on there were several stints on Television and stage ahead for Radha but the most promising break came at the age of fifteen when she then joined as lead singer of the internationally acclaimed group called Kulay (article on Kulay below) who won countless awards in the Philippines and went on an international tour all over the UK, Germany, Italy, and Denmark which put them on the dance charts in local UK radio and Billboard. In 1999 Pepsi launched their ad campaign called "Ask for more" and chose Kulay to be their endorsers. In 2001 Radha decided to then embark on a solo career to pursue her own personal musical style. Since then she has won her own fair share of awards and accolades and is widely respected in the local industry as one of the premiere Soul and R&B artists. She has also explored her songwriting by writing for other local artists as well as writing for her own much anticipated solo album. -UGE MyGen Profile Generator
