Am I going crazy? Have my years of wild hedonism finally caught up with me?

About Me

I graduated with a degree in earth science and geography from Umass. I ended up as a legal secretary for a while and then used my skills and degree to score what seemed like the perfect job in the physics department at a university. I thought I was the coolest shizz ever with that job, til they decided to change my position and I got laid off and I felt like I lost everything. Somehow, I had found identity in my profession and lost my identity everywhere else. However, it turned out to be the greatest thing that could ever happen. In my time off, I rediscovered everything outside of my job and remember the things that really matter. I am temping now, answering phones or whatever, and going back to school full time this winter to become a certified biotechnology lab technician. And life is sweet.I ride my bike a lot. I care a lot about my own physical health. I don't eat meat. Or dairy. I like hiking, camping, white water rafting, canoeing, and any other outdoorsy activity. I recently discovered that I can cook. Who knew? I sculpt a lot. Decoupage, paint, and sew on occasion. I love metal. Well, more like pop metal like System of a Down and Tool. So I go to a lot of concerts. But I'm poor and can't afford to go to as many as I'd like. That goes back to the whole job thing. I have rabbits. They're brilliant and litter box trained. I read a lot of Crichton and I watch a lot of Star Trek. I like video games. I like to go to the mall even if I can't afford anything. I love sneakers and own many. I have a lot of maps in my apartment. I have an Alice in Chains tattoo. I watch too much TV. I volunteer for Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. That's all I can think of.

Bicycling, travel, white water rafting, sculpting, Italy, hiking, rocks, environmental science, web design, rabbits, natural bodies of water, nature, photography, coreographing *amazing* dance moves, reading, charitable volunteering, meteorology, stalking Sean Kinney, concerts/shows, contemporary and classic art, pottery, foreign culture, maps, vegetables, sneakers, mineralogy and petrology, canoeing, seeking excitement www.alison715.com
