I can say school is NOT an interest. It's more... a horrifying aspect of my own personal purgatory. I deserve it though, I'm sure.
Everyone.
Okay, well... let's be more specific, eh? If you're quirky and zany, an unabashed dork, and interested in what's going on in the world, you're my kind of person. If you have something you get really fired up about, you like expanding your horizons, and you love to laugh long and hard, you're definitely my kind of person. If you are high strung, impatient, and closed-minded, you're definitely NOT my kind of person. My kind of people like animals, and kids, and have a dry sense of humor. They laugh at themselves because, well, there is a lot to laugh at, they are on a journey all of their own, and they are strongly opinionated. They often don't agree with me! They are chatty, emotional, imperfect, and inspiring in their own humble way.
I am a huge John Gorka fan, folk music in general, interesting rock, some rap, definitely classical. I listen to a lot of NPR. Christine Kane and Vienna Teng blow me away - I'm a really big acoustic kind of person. GO SEE DAVID FRANCEY if you ever get a chance. I'd seen him kind of accidentally when I went to satisfy my John Gorka obsession, and... well... he KILLED. His albums are great, so don't pirate them - BUY them.
All that said, I really love the Crystal Method too, and the soundtrack to the Matrix... I dunno. I guess I'm eclectic (but we all fancy ourselves as eclectic, don't we?) PS - I hate AC/DC. Additionally, I don't think James Hetfield can sing. Sorry. I know it's a sin to hate on Metallica, but hey. I also listened to zydeco recently. It's not for me!
Melissa Etheridge gives me chills. I keep asking myself why Britney Spears is really that famous. I think Clear Channel should be killed -- they define music for the masses.
I dislike Monty Python, only because legions of Monty Python fans have quoted the sketches. Badly.
American History X was visceral and thought provoking.
Robots.
I, Robot ;-)
Big Fish
Run. Lola, Run
Shakespeare in Love
Quills
Batman
Magnolia
Gods and Generals
Sin City
A League of Their Own
King Arthur
Loads of other movies I can't recall right now.
I think I am one of two people in America who does not watch TV. I do have Queer as Folk on DVD, and I love that show. I'm sad it's over. Soon I will watch the L Word. I looove Stephen Colbert, I admit, and I also like Keith Olbermann even though sometimes he's as strident a lefty as he accuses the righties of being. TV just isn't part of my daily routine.
The Stand, good biographies, crime novels, mostly non-fiction though. I like short story anthologies, interesting poetry, RPG books... man, I just like books. I'm in college again, so I read a lot of crime books, since I prepping to go to law school. I don't read for pleasure as much as I once did, and it's sad! I tend to dislike a lot of fantasy because it is very formulaic.
I don't have a hero. This isn't because I'm jaded. It's because I think it's a huge pressure to put on another human being, making them your hero or heroine. I prefer to carve my own path, rather than following someone else's. They've made their missteps, and I will make mine. I guess if I had to have a hero, it's Mr. Right, wherever he is waiting for me. Hey Mr. Right - I pray for you every day. I hope it's helping...
