Forming in early 2006 with a series of acoustic sets, founding members, James and Chris, have continued to wow audiences, and fellow musicians alike, with their well-crafted pop songs and energic live performances.
Drawing from such influences as Supergrass, The Beatles, T-Rex, and Richard Ashcroft, The Barmaids have performed around the local scene throughout 2006/07, polishing up their live performances, whilst building up a strong following and reputation.
With a passion for songwriting that began at an early age, James' exposure to live music helped shape his future and ambitions towards, one-day, performing with his very own band.
Seeing a rock and roll act perform was just a regular night out for the 9-year-old James, who at the time, was an avid drummer. His parents had developed a bar/club in the heart of Prahran named 'High on Chapel', (now onesixone), where he spent the majority of his after-school time, Helping himself to the 'softdrink gun' behind the bar, and often getting up to jam with the local and interstate bands that were performing.
