About Me

It was June and I walked through the city at night. The heat hasn't set in and the sweat beads haven't begun to form like tiny snakes slithering across and over my face. The breeze gave the streets a hazy glow as dust and smoke filled their empty spaces usually filled with passing cars and their empty left seats.
The buildings tall and dark. They show no signs of life. They aren't breathing as deeply as they usually do. Maybe it's me or maybe it's the chemicals but I haven't seen them so dead. Walking up and down these empy trails feels like a cemetary, a foreboding sign that maybe this old city isn't alive, only acting.
I reached the end of my trip in more ways then one. The cloudless sky emitted modules of bright light that gave me a feeling that maybe I was wrong, that the actors in front of me were just doing their jobs. It was a Wednesday. It wasn't the best day to see a show. I wasn't walking along a grave anymore. I was walking walking walking down a rabbit hole. I was missing my brain. I was drinking too much. Time slipped by so slowly I could feel my hair growing longer down my face and on my head. I felt the tiny roots pushing further out into the open like worms working there way to the surface out of an act of nature. My body began to turn into a small sparrow sitting atop one of the actor's heads, blowing smoke from a cigarette.
I traveled farther and farther down the rabbit hole until I reached the small city of fur that would become my new home. It was warmer than the city I had fallen away from. My brain began to spin as my small sparrow wings began to flap creating a hurricane among the deep deep deep darkness and light. My storm was getting bigger and more alive than my body could handle. My feathers fell apart and my bones rumbled like an earthquake in a glass of water. I'm falling apart but being reborn I'm reborn into a ghost. I'll be floating away in no time.
I'm returning to these city streets. It's June.
