Suppose I’ll write a bit of a Blog here. If you’re interested in a more formal Bio, there’s one above (Bio: Brett Barry - The Joy of Losing), or additional info at my site www.brettbarry.com.
OK. BLOG: Let’s see…rhymes with dog, log, frog, bog, eggnog, pollywog, fritzenshlogge (hope that’s not a swear word – just made it up). Hmmm...this is hard. I'm normally a man of few words - unless I'm talking, of course… and, since this is much like talking, my greatest problem here is how to keep this short? Keeping my communication short has always been difficult for me, not so much because I love to talk, but because I’ve always found it really hard to find words for what I’m truly thinking, feeling, hearing in my head/heart. I hear it clearly inside (well, usually), but then, when the words come out, there’s this fuzziness that clouds everything (and I don’t even drink!). Must be a faulty D/A converter.
So, it’s been quite a journey – from nearly flunking English in high school, to being referred to a special ed class my first year of college (although my pride wouldn’t allow that – so I avoided taking English my first two years, go figure – more on that later… maybe), to actually writing and communicating for a living through songwriting, recording and key note speaking. God is strange that way. Actually, we’re strange that way - really slow to learn and way too quick to blame Him. How’s that saying go? We blame God for things He has nothing to do with and give Him credit for things He wants nothing to do with. That’s me, for sure…
