*********** CUBAN TRANCE MANIFESTO: ART
THE PARADIGM HAS SHIFTED
******** 1: Art cannot be separated from life. Life is not just physical, but it has endless manifestations, and it is the duty of the artist to serve as a liaison between different lifeforms by producing works that stimulate the opening of inter-dimensional gates.
2: Art at its best must be interactive: Like the tree that fell in the forest and did not make a noise because no one heard it, art that does not touch, offend, delight, or scream is incomplete.
3: CUBAN TRANCE art is, like we are, decaying. It is fragile by nature and will have pieces falling off, and colors fading, for if art imitates life, then it most be at least as fragile as we are.
4: CUBAN TRANCE art should capture some of the magic experienced by the artist in other spheres of her/his life. A picture, sculpture, or song should serve to show the audience a snapshot of a magical moment felt by the artist.
5: When viewing, listening, or experiencing a work of CUBAN TRANCE, the person should consider everything around him or her as part of the work. If while listening to a CUBAN TRANCE song a baby cries, for example, that sound should be considered part of the totality of the song at that moment.
6: CUBAN TRANCE refers to a whole way of looking at the world around us as peopled not just by empirically observable beings and artifacts, but also by subtle, barely perceived intelligences that are not susceptible to empirical observation. CUBAN TRANCE declares that the scientific paradigm is ready to give way to a new paradigm where man and woman has achieved the necessary sophistication to communicate not just with those beings that are easily perceived with our known senses, but to other realities that can only be accessed with new eyes for seeing, new ears for hearing . . . new ways of using our sensorium as we discover senses we didnt know we had! ------------------------------------------------------------
