Television:
I Totally Recommend
Smallville
It took me a long time to start watching this show, but I'm glad I waited. Now I have 7 seasons to watch and I'm enjoying every single episode. I like the perspective the show takes with introducing Clark as a teen who is learning his awesome abilities. Very well done!
Books:
Me Like Wurds
I'm Currently Reading Mirror Mirror
Gregory Maguire retells another childhood fairy tale, but this time it's the story of Snow White. I haven't read too much yet. The only thing I can tell is that Bianca (Snow White) is being persued by some creepy dwarf. I don't know if the dwarf is malicious or just strange.I love Maguire's previous books (Wicked, Son of a Witch and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister) and I am looking forward to his final 2 books in the Wicked series. (Deposition of an Oracle and Watermark. It isn't 100% certain of Deposition of an Oracle will be released because it will be a slimmer book compared to the others, but I beleive it will serve as a bridge between the stories. Watermark, originally titled The Cowardly War, is a story about the Cowardly Lion and Yackle. woo)
Heroes:
My Mother is my hero.
She has been through so much raising my sister, me and also handling an obviously unfaithful husband.
I had epilepsy for 8 years of my life. I was 10months old when I had my first episode. I stopped breathing. My parents freaked out. Our neighbor(Charles) took my dad and me to the hospital. My fever was so high that I frickin' broke the thermometer. My mother waited for a whole night...waiting for the doctors to call. She was releived to hear that I was still alive..(I obviously lived..lol)
But after that first seizure..I had them pretty much every day for 8 years.
Then my sister was born when I was 3.5years. old. Gloria Vanessa was a healthy baby, but very attention starved. She constantly cried.
My mother had to raise the both of us w/out the help of my father. He was too busy going on his Venezuelan "business" trips.Years later, when I was in middle school, my dad went to prison for 4years.
My mom had to struggle with the finances and debating on whether to get a divorce or not. A man that refered to himself as our "cousin" moved in and helped us out.
A couple of years before my dad was released from prison my mother suddenly went blind. We were leaving Best Buy, walking to our car, when she yelled out that she couldn't see. I had to drive us home. I was only 13ish at the time and had no clue on how to drive a car. She regained her vision in less than 24hours..but that's scary shit. She found out that she had a beneign brain tumor..located between the petuitary gland and optic nerve.
She has had 2 surgeries..they removed the tumor..but it keeps growing back. Now she is married to our "cousin" and my dad is still a cheating s.o.b....but you got to love your parents..right?That's why my mom is my hero.....I will write a story about her life...she has faced many turmoils....
