About Me
Jeff Cloud is one of those individuals who doesnt settle when it comes to playing & recording music. As Jeff states, whether its fast or slow, bluesy or funky, its got to have passion and feeling.
One listen to his playing and you can easily tell that he really means it when he voices his soul. From his beautiful clean picking style on ballads to his fluid or on the edge soloing, you can hear that this mans passion for music runs deep.
Starting out in his early teens, Jeffs ear was eventually caught by players like Hendrix, Beck, Clapton, Page, Duane Allman, Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter, Robin Trower, David Gilmour, Frank Marino, Gary Moore, Hubert Sumlin, and Buddy Guy, with many more influences that have followed.
My influences are really quite broad and diverse and I can definitely appreciate anyone who is really good at whatever style they are doing. Theres so many beautiful players out there now. I feel very blessed to have the resources and variety that we have access to right now. The bottom line for me is, can you really feel what someone is trying to put across? Soul is not something you can fake. You've got to dig deep for it. Your own true individual essence is something you have to investigate and nurture over time. I just hope that people enjoy and are moved by the stuff that I play.
Having his own recording studio has enabled Jeff to play on a vast amount of different projects and recordings, from albums to jingles to movie soundtracks. His serious chops and tone put him in good company when he got asked to play on the Frank Marino Tribute CD "Secondhand Smoke" with some of rocks premier players, including George Lynch, Ronnie Montrose, Jennifer Batten, John Norum, Randy Hansen, Rick Ray and Audley Freed. Jeff recorded a cover of Franks song Babylon, which is an instrumental showcase for his infectious tone and phrasing. Jeff joined forces on the track with current Mahogany Rush drummer Dave Goode who added the driving rhythm backing that makes the track really shine.
Currently Jeff is working on a new album that will showcase his wide variety of stylistic playing. Look for this album to include rock, blues, and funk with blends of electric and acoustic guitars, as well as Jeffs powerful slide and dobro playing.

http://stratoblogster.blogspot.com/ As the Strat-o-world turns-- today we wanna introduce you to San Diego's own Jeff Cloud. Jeff is another Strat brother who plays it the way Leo never intended... See, I have this cosmic theory about when the Strat was invented. Wanna hear about it? I'll tell ya anyway. Picture if you will... Here we have Leo in his little radio shop, receiving subspace frequencies carrying instructions on guitar design. Leo dials into this transdimensional Tesla kind of zone, where he just nails things and doesn't completely understand why. I think the Stratocaster comes from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. This was part of the master plan to prepare for Hendrix, Trower, Beck, EJ, SRV and others to arrive here and save Earth from dark forces seeking to destroy earth with accordian music and champagne bubbles. Jeff Cloud is just another of that "arrival party" that continues to beam down. The recently released tribute to Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, entitled "Second Hand Smoke", is proof of Jeff's strat-o-cosmic qualifications-- as Jeff is a featured artist, along with Ronnie Montrose, John Norum, George Lynch, Jennifer Batten and others.
