About Me

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, William Blake began performing at the age of nine. He began a fifteen year career in theater within the Dallas/Ft. Worth community. He earned the 2005 Column Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Show for Contemporary Theater of Dallas. At age 19, he began working professionally as a vocalist in such notable places as Bill's Hideaway, Alexandre's, Sambuca, Cosmo Rouge, Phases, and several others. In five years, he became one of Dallas' most sought after cabaret performers.In August 2004, he completed work on his debut solo album, Day Dreamer, which was very well received by critics and audiences alike. Subsequently, he auditioned for Season Four of the Emmy-nominated American Idol: Search for a Superstar. He made his way into the top 93 out of 100,000 singers. He was invited to Hollywood, California and the chance to sing on stage of one of the most historic theaters in America, the Orpheum.William has worked with some of the finest entertainers in Dallas including actresses M. Denise Lee and Liz Mikel (currently starring in NBC's Friday Night Lights), singer/songwriters Gary Floyd and Lisa Michaels, pianists Buddy Shanahan and Paul Allen, who was the executive producer on Day Dreamer, saxophonists Larry Barnett, Rusty Johnson, and Shelley Carroll, percussionists Gabe Green, Brent Dacus, and Jaime Reyes and many, many others. He also performed with his Top 40/Dance cover band, Catalyst, in the Metroplex. He also subbed for several other bands, such as Inflatable Love Boys and Nothing Strikes Back.In addition, he also performed in humanitarian efforts at benefits for such charities as the AIDS Resource Center of Dallas, Actors for a Cure: Fighting Breast Cancer, and Broadway Cares: Equity Fights AIDS. In November 2006, he performed in Pella, Iowa at the American Dreams Concert benefitting Foster Children of Iowa raising money for Arts and Music Education.This year, in January, William made his move to New York City to continue his career as a cabaret performer and musical theater actor. He has worked affectionately with a crew of talented performers at the NYC Cabaret hotspot, Don't Tell Mama (www.donttellmama.com). His plans to release a second album have already begun which shall be a "Live From Dallas" project, recording his final performance in Dallas, Texas. For everything else, the sky's the limit!
