River Oaks

River Oaks is a mall, a day camp and a main street which runs through Calumet City IL. The south side of Chicago has its own culture, and is its own entity. What do you get when you cross Queen, Guns n Roses, The Pixies and Ween? Starting in December of 2003 co - founders Ben Mollin and Danny Giorgi had a vision. To keep it fun and keep it real. The story of River Oaks is simple you keep your ego and attitude’s at home and play from the heart. Whether it is performing a high octane live show or recording in their studio River Oaks will keep on delivering song after powerful song. River Oaks has a unique twist to their recordings. Every song is finished start to end in one day. It is a journey to see how much you can pull off on the spot. That motto and work ethic are what gives this band their unique sound. A little bit about the band: Ben Mollin (lead vocals and sax) is a veteran to the T.V. screen and the Chicago music scene. Playing in such bands as Hot Stove Jimmy, Bobby Slim James and the Variety Band, Aswah Gregori, Wine Press, Wolcott, and also performing live with Interscope recording artists Smashmouth. Ben was also the runner up on Bravo television network show “Shear Genius”. Ben Girnus (bass) is no stranger to the stage, has played for many projects and has played all over Chicago and the Midwest in original and cover bands and has over 15 years experience. Danny Giorgi (guitar, backing vocals, production, engineering) is a monster in the world of guitar playing and.engineering. He has recorded every one of the bands songs up to date. Anyone who has had the privilege of playing with Danny will say that he is an amazing talent and one of the greatest guitar players on the scene. I know those are some pretty strong words but the guy is a friggin’ monster. Danny also played in Wolcott, Kill Your Guitars and Fil. Mike Nowak, a fellow native of Calumet City IL has quite an impressive list of accomplishments. Mike has performed with Hopeless records “Break the Silence” and has toured across the U.S, Canada and most of Europe.
