About Me

I find it interesting that English is the only known language in which the nominative first person singular pronoun ("I") is capitalized.
I plan to spend 24 hours in a Wal-Mart at some point over the summer.
I am also working on a novel. Ask me about it sometime, and I'll try not to bore you.
I have a cat.
I am a pretty big fan of Publix brand cranberry-raspberry juice. It's supposed to help prevent kidney stones, which is a definite plus (I have passed two, which officially qualifies me for old man status).
Grammar is kind of a big deal to me. The way I see it, if you attempt to pluralize a noun with an apostrophe, then you deserved to be publicly flogged...verbally flogged, that is. Excoriated. That's the word.
I am irreparably in love with a girl named Katie, and I am beginning to suspect that she reciprocates the sentiment. We have been dating for upwards of four years now, and it has been amazing.
I enjoy music, and I dabble in creating it as well. I find that when I strike a guitar in a particular fashion, it will produce various sounds that amuse me. I have been in one band before, and I'm hoping to start something else up soon with some friends.
I write whenever I can. I've written for a couple of newspapers, and that's basically what I plan on doing with my life.
I will be attending the Honors College at the University of South Carolina in the fall of '07. Academic boogytime shall ensue.
As far as US presidents go, I am enamored with Calvin Coolidge. If he were alive today, he would have my vote in '08. I mean, the guy didn't do doodly squat, and he was adamant about it. Let's stop taxing and regulating this country into the ground.
Oh, and if I put a Bible verse in your yearbook, this is probably what it was: "Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun. However many years a man may live, let him enjoy them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything to come is meaningless. Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment. So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless." - Ecclesiastes 11:7-10. That pretty much sums up high school for me. Sometimes it was beautiful, sometimes it was surreal, sometimes I could have sworn it was going to kill me, and, toward the end, it just felt like I was driving myself headfirst into the ground like a jetliner that had lost two engines. In the grand scheme of things, it meant nothing. But through all the nonsense and the disillusionment, there was hope. Oh, God, thank You for the hope.
"A life uninspected is not worth living." - Plato

My Interests

God's will, Katie, writing, music, playing guitar, running, competitive underwater telepathy

I'd like to meet:

God, Chuck Norris, Matt Thiessen (of Relient K), whoever invented cummerbunds (I would punch him and tell him that cummerbunds are silly), Kurt Vonnegut, Judas Iscariot, King Solomon, Charles de Gaulle (I would insult him openly for his arrogance and blatant Frenchness. Then I would order him to make me a croissant), Zinedine Zidane (basically for the same reason as de Gaulle), Joseph McCarthy (he had a point), Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Newt Gingrich, Walt Disney (his movies are teaching kids all the wrong things), Barabbas, Aaron Weiss (of mewithoutYou), C.S. Lewis:

"If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end: if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth - only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin with and, in the end, despair. Most of us have got over the pre-war wishful thinking about international politics. It is time we did the same about religion." - excerpt from Mere Christianity

Drink the water

Here's something I wrote about water and about drinking it.  This is apparently part of my gradual descent into naturalistic romanticism.  Yikes. 5.23.07   Drink it in, Drink the ocean...
