I LOVE PINK! BABY PINK...BARBIE PINK...FUSCHIA...And RED!...LIPSTICK RED...CHRISTMAS RED! Oh, I am ALL about Color!
I am not 98 years old, and I am not in school until 2011. However, since more & more companies are looking at MySpace during job searches, and since employment law forbids questions about age and dates of employment & schooling, I have chosen to scramble that information.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME:
I really love Scottish and Irish Festivals. Five of my friends and I founded CeltFesTexas...the largest Celtic festival between Dallas-Fort Worth and Phoenix. There is an article about this festival in the April 2007 edition of Texas Highways Magazine. www.texashighways.com Click the Arts & Culture link.
IT’S NOT EVERY DAY THAT YOU SEE MEN wearing skirts in Odessa. All that changes every April, when CeltFesTexas, a Scottish-Irish folklife and music festival, takes over the campus of Odessa College. For two fun-filled days, not only do men (and women!) embrace the joys of a classic tartan kilt, but a wide range of activities turns the campus’ soccer field into a Celtic playground. A dozen musical acts will entertain the crowds, and vendors will sell everything from custom swords and knives to jewelry and textiles. Festival-goers can enjoy weaving and spinning demonstrations; traditional Highland games like the caber toss; sheepdog demonstrations; workshops in playing the fiddle, tin whistle, and bagpipes; lessons in pursuing genealogy and Gaelic languages; and hands-on classes on such topics as Scottish cooking and tartan-weaving. www.texascelticfestival.org.
CeltFesTexas has something for everyone...Celtic rock bands, traditional bands, and solo artists. CeltFesTexas hosts the Highland Games State Championship for the great State of Texas. There are seminars relating to genealogy, Celtic history, and the Scottish Gaelic. Participants in the language class will leave knowing how to sing "Old MacDonald" in Scottish Gaelic! The amazing performers at CeltFesTexas host learning seminars for their Celtic instruments...Bagpipes, Bodran, Fiddle, Pennywhistle. Pipe bands, a Kitchen Piping competition, Irish dancers, Scottish clans, dog events, Celtic food, vendors, and a special Children's area are all a part of CeltFesTexas.
I discovered the Scottish & Irish world about 15 years ago when I attended the Texas Scottish Festival in Arlington, Texas. I became a Patron member and eventually became more involved by working with Publicity & Promotions as the Media contact. I love to promote the Celtic culture, & really enjoy bringing stories of this culture & events to the public, and like the challenge of convincing the news media & promotions departments to participate as a partner with us. I continue to hold that position with the Texas Scottish Festival even though I have been living in West Texas for the last few years. The Texas Scottish Festival is always held the first weekend in June, & the website is www.texasscottishfestival.com.
