This is my homestudio - grassroot level I know ;)Barthol Lo Mejor makes popdada music; experiments with electrorythms and unconventional sounds including pieces of conversations, cliches, old movies and anime cartoons. Starting from the minimal and monotone electro going towards noise, unmastered high naiive synthsounds, industrial and 4note bass lines and sexual innuendos. Ending up with something to make you euphorical or just give you a headache, a experimental experience guaranteed; for a strong effect the optimal amount of songs is six in a row. His music is considered effective for recovering from hard drug addiction.
Barthol has shared the stage with Kap Bambino, Kania Tieffer, Vector Lovers, Anthony Pateras, Robin Fox, Meike Jackson, Vitor Hugo Aguiar, The Festival of Nonexistent Bands, Miip, Kinkymint and Plixid.
Quotes:
"Estonia's Barthol Lo Mejor disconcerts me in an altogether different fashion with twilight zone electro, by turns tacky, kitsch and enlightening. "Give Me Chemi Calls" is reminiscent of Telepopmusik's 2001 hit "Breathe," yet appears to have a pitched battle between Miss Kittin and Itchy and Scratchy occurring in the background. The helium warp of "Tutti Frutti" wraps Mike and Rich contrariness over a Buggles backdrop. "Karma Sharpshooter" could be compared to Gescom, Tetris and UK kebab culture. Barthol's sounds are admirable for their incongruity. " Tom Lee in Treble zine
"Barthol Lo Mejor is an Estonian music maker with really creative ideas for his music. The melodies he creates are laid back and have a relaxing type of vibe, except for the fact that it’s mixed with some really heavy multiple beats making it really fast paced and energetic. Not only that he uses so many different types of sounds in his music, it really does stop it from being boring. If his songs were put on a visual screen, it would cause an epileptic fit!"
Hot Generation
Young interdistsiplinary artist. His music is a kind of
electro mixed with noise and naive sounds. Tracks are mostly
monotic and also leaping n progress.
Besides for his music, he is also known for his text experimenting
last published in a book called KAngelasema Toitepiim which
is a compilation of estonian experimental litterature.
He is also experimenting with mixing different mediums.
One could describe BLM's music as a genetical pattern
which although looks ordinary at first sight but differs
from the common DNA because of the choice of instruments
(to use musical terms). Using cliches of the pop music as
instruments forming intertwined patterns which complement
one another resulting in something twisted which doesn't
resemble it's primary state.
