Maedy

Maedy (Born in 1977) is an artist multitalented in many areas; she sings, writes, composes, arranges, shes a professional dancer, choreographer and plays the piano. Her versatility is to be found in her music & voice to which her sensitivity is the most characteristic. Varied by heart rendering ballads to passionate mid- and up-tempos her music is difficult to place to just one genre. It can be categorized as pop, jazzy soul-full triphop/lounge and more...Her dance & vocal training varied from Amsterdam, Tilburg and New York. She has already performed side by side onstage with Jan Akkerman & in such theatre shows as Jeans 10 & the highly acclaimed rock opera Tommy, with Bert Heerink. In 2004 she worked as a vocal coach, vocal arranger and singer on the album Night and Day, by Friso, DJ Eddy the Clercq and the Jack Million Big Band (a.k.a. New Swing). This compilation received excellent reviews in the Netherlands and one of the songs reached .. 11 in the top 30 of South Africa.During the presentation of Night & Day in June of 2004 her talent did not pass by unnoticed by the top couture duo Viktor & Rolf whom attended the show. Maedy was asked to sing and vocally arrange the soundtrack Flowerbomb, under leadership of de Clercq, for their international prêt-a-porter show which coincided with the launch of their perfume Flowerbomb, during Paris fashion week 2004 in the gardens of the Louvre.The cooperation was so successful that de Clercq asked for yet more cooperation. This time for the soundtrack for the exclusive jewellery show Passion by Rodrigo Otazu & Gassan Diamonds that took place in November 2004 in Amsterdam.Critics praised her for her "beautiful, sometimes fairy-tales appearing songs". "A real performer" with an "extremely pure voice whether shes whispering or reaching for the higher end of the scale".
