About Me

I live inside my own head. I am on a constant search for who I am though I hate any kind of self-help literature – I find it trite. I am very spiritual though I find many religious activities, as well as the rhetoric as trite as self-help books. I am curious, sometimes to my detriment. My life has been a series of small and mostly unrelated obsessions strung together, so I have a pretty wide range of knowledge. I’ve heard this isn’t uncommon amongst people with ADHD. I have an ability to step outside of a situation that I am involved it and view it from multiple angles. I am never engaged in any kind of social interaction where I am not simultaneously interacting and analyzing the interaction from an observational perspective. My mind is a blur and I am usually thinking about two or three things at once while also playing a song in the background. I am stubborn, if I believe something to be right as well as important you will not get me to budge. I’ve lost jobs over this character trait - seriously. I am blunt. I find that in general, Americans are way too sensitive and I don’t like to pander to their sensitivities, though I have learned the art of diplomacy out of necessity. This has been a fairly recent development. I have a tendency to be harsh to other people, I am working on that too. I am honest, almost to a fault, and wear my emotions on my sleeve. This is not always a good thing, I wouldn’t even attempt to get by with a lie, and I have stopped playing poker altogether.

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern, You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

My Interests

I have no time for interests. I work and go to grad school. That basically fills up my life right now. I am addicted to texting. If I had more time I would take more pictures, tend to my fish tank a little more (I have a few dead leaves floating around, though the ecosystem seems to be very stable so it may be good that I don’t touch it), finally learn to play the harmonicas I bought, read all the books that I keep buying and sticking on the book shelf for later, and of course, spend more time with my wife.
