BIO Trombonist Michael Rörby, originally from Stockholm, Sweden, has been living in Amsterdam for the last 8 years, studying, playing with great musicians and enjoying the scenery in general. In Amsterdam he is writing for and playing with his own Quartet, MRQ, but now his main focus lies with award winning Blazin' Quartet and the Modern Balkan Jazz Orchestra. Other significant cooperations are with Saxophone great Gijs Hendriks and the nestor of Dutch Drumming, John Engels (Blue Bird Jazz Quintet).
As sideman he is to be seen with Mischa van der Wekken Quintet, The Glenn Miller Memorial Orchestra, Rootsriders, Big Boy Caprice, Giovanca and Zuluwannsago.
Previous musical collaborations includes Edy Martinez, Tetzepi,
Trabucombo, Zuiderzee Orkest, Tumbabo, ILLICIT, Dvora Davis, Souled Jazz, New Cool Collective, New Generation Big Band, HOTEL, Roberto Aran, Konrad Kosseleck Big Band and John Gration Combination to mention a few.
