BIENVENIDOS A CHACMOOL STUDIO * OXNARD'S FINEST Jose was born in Yucatan, Mexico and raised in the City of Oxnard; Jose comes from a Mayan background and ink runs in his blood. Jose has been tattooing for 13 years and it’s a major part of his existence. It is hard to say exactly at what point his inspiration came, however his skills are innate and didn’t need a life of schooling to create what he does. It comes out of his heart and lives through his art today. I know I am not the last of a dying breed, but I am a true Tattoo Artist, I am a painter, I am a creator of new life on skin. Art has always been a part of my life. He has been drawing since he was a child when a pencil was merely an instrument for homework for some kids at that age, for him it was an escape into his imagination. He began tattooing at the age of 19; He can still recall the first tattoo he created on an acquaintance by the name of Peter. He chose a tribal design that would remain on his skin for the rest of his life and that lead him into a successful career and my way of life that he so much enjoys today. Jose is proud to say that he has left his print on many, but also prides himself to say that he has left his print on himself. Jose has tattooed himself numerous times. He carries these as proud medals. Jose has also been tattooed by fellow artist who he admires greatly. Jose has developed his own unique style that is recognizable by many. Jose’s style is realistic, dark and at times sinister. He has vast experience in portraiture, life like tattooing and biomechanical tattoos. Jose pride’s and focuses him in creating each tattoo as unique as possible leaving his style which can still be identified. Jose has learned to manipulate the ink that seeps into the skin in such a way that he can leave tones and textures that seem real regardless of how unattainable this idea may appear.Jose’s tattoo career began in his room; he had clients that led him to a long list of repeated customers that up until this day have returned numerous times during his career as a tattoo artist. “Chacmool Studio” was born in 2005, a dream of his which he made a reality. Jose’s work has appeared in a well known magazines such as “Tattoo Magazine” and “Savage Magazine” (some of the world’s largest selling magazines) which featured the work he has created on a long time friend who is known by “ Mosco” . Jose has worked countless conventions and tattoo studios. Jose has gained great experience and inspiration from his travels and fellow artists. Jose chose this road that would lead him to a life of tattoo machines, unforgettable memories, and life long friends.
