Alfie Joey is a writer / performer who co hosts the breakfast show with Charlie Charlton on BBC Newcastle Radio. (6.30-10am, available on listen live and listen again!)On TV he has appeared in Coronation Street and is Derrick in all five series of Johnny Vegas' BBC sitcom, 'Ideal'. He was been the voice of Paramount Comedy, 2007-9.He has performed comedy in all of the leading stand up venues in the country as well as performances in Dubai, Singapore, China and South Korea.Alfie is a regular character actor on Radio 4 guesting for the likes of Adam Bloom, Mitch Benn and John Bishop. He was also a leading contributer to the Radio 4 documentary 'Woody Allen: The Cabaret Years'. On BBC 7 he wrote and presented 'The Harrowgate Crime Writers' Festival' which included Alfie's interviews with P.D. James, Mark Billingham and Jeffrey Deaver.On the mainstream stage Alfie has worked with some of his school boy heroes Jimmy Cricket and Mick Miller and supported Bradley Walsh in Summer Season at The Opera House in Blackpool.He has written a play (Glen, Gary, Jonathon Ross, performed at the Salford Playhouse in the Manchester Comedy Festival), a successful solo show (Alfie Joey's Mini Cabaret) and co wrote and directed Laurence Clarke's 2006 Fringe show 'Jim Fixed It For Me'
