About Me

Born Christopher Joseph Caraballo in Jamaica, Queens, in 1989, the self proclaimed “breath of fresh air” A.K.A, Casanova has definitely seen his up’s and down’s living in this great city of New York for only a short eighteen years. After being forced to suffer the emotional dilemma of spilt custody between parents at the tender age of eight, the young soon-to-be lyrical heavyweight soon fell victim to a rather unstable living situation. With his mother being granted the primary custody, the comfortable living environment the he once knew in his younger years soon changed.Shortly after becoming two children surviving in a single parent household, Casanova and his older sister began having to endure constant moving to various boroughs and locations throughout New York City. “I never really felt at home wherever I was living because I knew that something was going to change whether it was my address or my school, things were going to change and I had no control over it”.After years of relocation Nova began attending middle school at Simon Baruch MS 104 in east downtown Manhattan, the time he spent within the confines of that small inner city school changed him forever. “I was a pretty regular kid, I had done some bad things and gotten into a little (or a lot of) trouble like most kids at that age, but I never really had an opinion on many things, especially not music, I just listened to whatever was on the radio at the time”. Very content with just being the class clown, Casanova’s once acceptable grades began to slip rapidly, thus further putting stress on the already fragile household situation. While still not at all interested in ever becoming involved in music not to mention being a rap artist, hip hop soon became a very integral part of his daily middle school experiences. “I never cared about music, the only CD’s I owned were soundtracks to corny movies that I got as gifts. While after only a couple of weeks in school and already making a seamless transition from musically ignorant to hip hop head, Nova’s friends were the sole inspiration for such an (at the time) surprisingly different music mind state, some of which remain to this day some of his closest fellow artists.Three years pass as this love for sly lyrical recitals and hard hitting beats grows stronger and stronger, until before he knew it, everybody who was anybody in school was either a rapper or knew it was cool to just be affiliated with a (good) rapper. ”it was cool to rap, I didn’t really mind though, I knew all of the rappers in the school, they were my friends since day one, and besides, I was the funny kid, so I was already cool”.At the age of 13 and on his last year in middle school, Nov was challenged to his first rap battle, one which he quickly declined, but thanks to a very persistent and large new kid in school he ended up going home that night and putting the pen to paper writing his rap, a battle rap at that. So now, with an actual excuse (for him) to miss out on homework, writing raps just became the greatest vocabulary builder a kid at that age could hope for. “now I was it, In my mind I was nicer than every other dude in that place, if I wrote a rap it definitely wasn’t going to be whack, and my friends respected that, I felt like a celebrity and that was a great feeling”.Fast forward four years, now this once timid shy kid turned junior high jokester has undergone yet another change, with six years of building his rap skill and two years learning to shape his craft more cleverly while working with producers and engineers in professional studios night and day, Casanova is well on his way to becoming a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. With numerous recordings under his belt and a very talented production team heavily backing him, Nova is getting ready to drop his mixtape entitled “the breath of fresh air” sometime mid 2007 and show off his well needed originality to whoever is smart enough to listen.“I’m just a regular dude that happens to be crazy nice at rapping, that’s all I ever claim to be, music is my life and I don’t plan on losing it anytime soon”. We have all been waiting too long for someone to come and change the way modern day hip hop sounds…I think its time we all took a deep breath….. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Creative Commons License--
