Today, the young emcee known as Rollz Royce Nique is marveling at a Ralph Lauren Polo Shirt worn by his good friend “JuJuâ€. “When you get this?†asked an ecstatic Nique. Nique has been known to have an obsession with all things somehow connected to the movie Paid In Full. “This is the Polo Mitch wore at the skating rinkâ€, shrieks an overly excited Najja “Nique†Magee. Inspired by the character Mitchell played by Mekhi Phifer in Rocafella’s classic “Paid In Fullâ€, Nique began to craft his rhymes after the infamous 80s crack era. Never claiming to glorify the horrific poison, Nique does glorify all the spoils “hustling†brought. Moving around as a child, Nique would consider the closest thing to a hometown southwest Atlanta, Georgia by way of Springfield, Massachusetts.
The young wordsmith got his start rapping at age 7 inspired by his emcee mother and cousins. Constantly working on his craft, Nique tried his luck battling around the neighborhood and school. Moving around a lot as a child exposed Nique to many things even most elderly adults didn’t see in their lifetime. He stood out as a child who wore oxford/polo shirts with khakis and sneakers. It also enabled him to carry what his friends call "an old soul". As told by his bestfriends, Nique often stood out in school as one who was heavily into old school soul music, jazz, and other eclectic forms of music. Nique notes music as something that saved his life given the environment he calls home (Atlanta’s West End/Oakland City community). Inspired by drug dealers, revolutionaries, Nique credits music as his reason for not totally straying from the path to success. “It’s a lot of dumb shit I’ve done tryna be like niggas aroundâ€, says Nique. But after years of honing his skills and creating a small following, Nique thinks he has the power to channel rap into something “elegantâ€. Given his moniker, Nique creates what he calls luxury hip hop…lyricism with excessive style. “I’m sure many would say its been done before, but the point I’m making is that its not here…anymore,†says Nique of his unique style. He sites Raekwon, Styles P, Jadakiss, Young Dro, and Curren$y as core influences. Already catching steam after three mixtapes in the 08 year, Nique is keeping silent, not talking about it but doing it. That’s what Mitch would’ve did!Masthead Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com!
