About Me

Hey, I'm ZIg Jones, pictured here second from the right with my band "THE JONESES". Thanks for checking out my site! I have been a musician for all of my life, starting out at a young age learning piano and trumpet, and then moving on to the guitar at age 12. The need for a bass player in my high school swing choir converted me from my 6 string to the bass, and the low-end was my instrument of choice until graduation. I didn't pick up an instrument again for almost 20 years. A late afternoon phone call in 2005 from my friend John Seculoff persuaded me to dust off the old equipment, add some new, and begin jamming again. 6 months later, I had the opportunity to join a new band in Fort Wayne called "DRYSDALE". Within 3 months, we were opening for the 80's rock group "LOVERBOY" at Piere's in Fort Wayne, Indiana. "DRYSDALE" dismantled in late May of '06, giving me the opportunity to join "THE JONESES" on bass guitar in late July of '06. "THE JONESES" is a cover band playing 80's, 90's and todays college chart-toppers. Also, you can catch me once in a while sitting in on the acoustic bass guitar with "MODERATE PAIN", which is lead by that same friend that got me playing again, John Seculoff. Since my return to music in 2005, I have toured in Europe for 12 days, played several gigs big and small, played for thousands of people, and made many friends along the way. Thanks to everyone that has made this journey with me! What a BLAST! Check out my show listings and come by to support local live music!

Influences: Musical influences? My first exposure to true music mastery would probably be listening to the first Van Halen self-titled album when I was around 11 with my buddy Troy. Until then, I had listened to music, but never really LISTENED to it. I was intrigued and influenced at that time, especially to learn the guitar. I bought a 65 Gibson SG and a new Yamaha 60 watt amp and began fumbling my way around the frets, learning Deep Purple, Ratt, AC/DC, and most of the late '70's and early '80's hair-band stuff. As of late, I have been influenced by many of the new indie bands that are truely doing it their way. I also enjoy The Killers, The Strokes, The Vines, The Bravery, VHS or Beta, The Bangkok Five, to name a few.
