Kenneth W.Z. Bossman a.k.a. Black Prophet grew up in Accra Ghana, where he ended up on the streets as a teenager. Growing up on reggae & hip-hop Black Prophet was inspired by the conscious roots message of Peter Tosh and Ghanian reggae pioneers the Kente Band and the Soz squad. Black Prophet joined a street band called the Vibration Boys, which later became Vibration Kings. Meeting Shabba Ranks as a youngster in the early nineties fused Black Prophet's hiphop style into dancehall as the young artist got serious at his mission as an artist and lead singer. With the Vibration Boys Black Prophet developed his distinct melodious singing style, a mixture of the sweet Ghanian timbre and classic roots reggae. Releasing a couple of compilations the Vibration Kings failed to break through without radio support, which left Black Prophet tainted and looking for alternative ways to make it. Although Black Prophet performed as an opening act for the likes of Steel Pulse, Lucky Dube, Alpha Blondy, Buju Banton, Shaggy and Beenieman., he still had to get away to Europe to pursue an international careeer. In 2003 Black Prophet came to Holland, being able to release his first solo album 'Legal Stranger' in 2005. In 2007 the album caught on in Ghana and finally Black Prophet was getting radio support, which led to a nomination for 'Doubting me' as best reggae song of the year on the 2008 Ghana music awards. This year sees Black Prophet moving from strength to strength, recording a song with Nigerian urban music star 2face as well as being invited to Jamaica by producer Dean Fraser to record a song in the Tuff Gong Studio in Kingston. This collaboration is set to result in an album scheduled for the latter half of 2009. His current Ghana hit 'Masses' stirred up a big controversy when Prophet performed this anti-corrutption song in front of all main politicians. In Africa reggae is still a political gesture. First and foremost a live artist Black Prophet has got his Dutch-Ghanian band in tight shape and is ready to rock the world stage.
