Lynn Penix, a Rockford native, born Yolanda Lynn Washington, a musical powerhouse and vocal genius was raised on the citys west side. She is anointed, powerful and led by the Holy Spirit, not only does she sing about the Good News but preaches the unadulterated word of God. She is determined, dedicated, loyal, lovable, energetic, charismatic, yet humble. Most importantly, Lynn possesses the trait that Jesus called the greatest of all which is love.Lynn is a lifetime member of St. Paul Church of God In Christ where her Father,Bishop James E. Washington is Pastor. She is the Lead Director for St. Paul Church Choir and she plays an intricate role in the music department.Her accomplishments are endless; empowered by God, Lynn is a gifted Songwriter and vocal arranger. She has participated in countless local events such as The Concert of Prayer for Rockford with Bob Griffith, On The Waterfront, and a Benefit Dinner for our current Mayor Larry Morrissey. She is the voice behind the Radio Personality heard on WNTAs, Spinnin with Lynn a Gospel Music Broadcast on Saturday Mornings.Lynn is known for sharing her gifts with Rockfords own premier gospel groups, Chosen Expressions, Psalms 100 and Friends. She provided background vocals for Urban Gospel greats such as Ann Nesby and Jennifer Holiday. She was blessed with the opportunity to open for Gospel favorites; Fred Hammond, Smokie Norful, Kurt Carr, Michelle Williams, Donnie McClurkin, The Canton Spirituals, Lee Williams, The Winans, Commissioned, and The Clark Sisters. Lynn has appeared on Black Entertainment Televisions (BET), Bobby Jones Gospel. For a Season, she was a member of Ricky Dillards New Generation Chorale and is currently a member of Malcolm Williams Great Faith of Chicago.Lynn has many goals that she wants to accomplish such as, change the health care system for the elderly and help build self-esteem in young women. She has volunteered for various organizations; Girl Scouts of America, The American Red Cross, Meals-On-Wheels, and Ceasefire. Being the total package is Lynns ultimate goal. Her goal is to maintain balance mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Lynn says, With my hectic schedule, one of the things that I like to do for myself is to get my hands and feet doneit helps me to relax.Lynn is the only biological daughter of Bishop James E. Washington and Lady Georgia M. Washington. She has a Brother, Elder Vincent Washington and she is the mother of Stanlynn, Evandia, and Stanley, Jr; she also has two special daughters, Bianca and Sharlynn and three beautiful grand-children. She is the loving Wife of Elder Stanley E. Penix.Dream On Lynns Debut CD will be released Saturday, August 12, 2006; produced by her Husband, Stan The Man Penix, CEO of PenWash Productions. Lynn plans to use her musical platform to inform the world that, God has a plan for your life.
