DJ Sister Soul was born in Detroit, Michigan, US The home of Soul Music. After completing University in New York City, she moved to Prague, Czech Republic where she intensively started her music career as an MC and front woman for Alvik. She was an attendee of the Red Bull Music Academy in 2005 in Seattle,Washington.
Sister Soul started her DJ career on the radio in New York in the late 90s. For her hopping behind the turntables on the club scene was a natural progression. She grew up vinyl hunting with her father and listen to their fine pickin's back home. Over the years her styles have varied, but have never strayed for from her roots in Funk, R&B, soul and Hip Hop which crosses over into any good stuff that will make your ass move in a smooth and soulfelt way.
Recently Sister Soul has whipped out the cherry on the cake and thrown her microphone skills into her set. Armed with her sampler and sound effects, she warms up the crowd as her own MC, and even sings with her records, making vocal arrangement live with her sampler. It gets hot!
She now lives in Paris where she has a residency in a small bar/resto, but enjoys travelling with her record bag and sampler. She plays often in Prague and Austria and in other cities in France. In 2007, she added appearances behind the turntables in Geneva, CH, Bergen, NO, London, UK and Sao Paulo, Brasil to her list. If you catch her behind the decks in Prague, she's most likely taking up the microphone on stage with her Prague based nu-jazz group Alvik sometime in the following week.
