About Me
At some point, within the last day, week or month, youve probably heard something that Gary Schreiner has been up to, either as a composer, producer, musician, arranger (or any combination of the above).
Now, unless youre in the industry, you may not have known, for instance, that he's won an Emmy Award. And, unless youre the type who carefully takes notes of all the end-credits, you may not have taken note that it was some of his music written with partner Curt Sobel featured in films like Thank You for Smoking, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Ray and Donnie Brasco.
His music is also featured on TV shows like Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, and Chappelles Show (including the infamous Muppet-like-puppets-singing-about-all-sorts-of-
Venereal-diseases-episode!). Or that it was Gary playing piano, harmonica, accordion and/or arranging music for Joan Osborne, Yoko Ono, Patti Labelle, and Carly Simon among many others.
There are no credits at the end of commercials of course, so it would be impossible for even a credit-hound to appreciate that he's written music for, among others, the award-winning Cotton Council, Ralph Lauren, or the Pepsi (Jimi Hendrix) Super Bowl spots. (Not to mention his arrangement and production of Stevie Wonder's Dont You Worry About a Thing, thats the centerpiece of UPSs current national campaign).
With or without his numerous credits or critical acclaim, Gary is a giant talent---a consummate, intuitive, creative musician with a ton of heart (and, with a truly modest disposition). And one place his name is surely known and respected is amongst the large circle of NYCs top-notch musicians, producers, and directors.
But from this point on, its probably best to present the kind of rich palette Gary draws on as a composer and musician (born in New Orleans and reared in NYC), by just having you hopping about on these links:
